The mission of the library is to provide quality materials for reading and research and to ensure that students are effective users of ideas and information.
The library is open from 7:30 am – 3:00 pm. On Monday's and Thursday's the library is open from 3:00pm to 4:00pm for extended library time. The students are welcome to visit the library before and after school, during study halls and with research classes. Individual, small group and class instruction is provided to enhance the students’ understanding of the availability and arrangement of print and electronic resources. Searching techniques are taught within the school curriculum as cooperative lessons are planned by the teachers and the librarian.
The collection consists of over 16,000 materials including fiction, non-fiction, reference, professional, and audio-visual materials to enhance the curriculum. Our collection is supplemented with inter-library loans from across the state via the Access Pa. Database giving the students access to over 11 million titles. The library also provides research guidance to the administration, faculty, & staff for professional development.
There are three electronic magazine and newspaper databases available to the students with home access availability through the online database links. These resources provide extensive access to current articles in print and on news broadcasts.
The Internet is very accessible in the THS library. There are currently 21 desktop computers available for student use throughout the day. The students are allowed to research information for class projects as well as minimal self-discovery. At this time, email of any form and personal communication are restricted.
